I first fell in love with exercising as a student athlete back in Illinois. I have completed over 900 hours of training and received numerous certifications in Pilates, Yoga, and massage therapy. I started my career with Pilates at the Pilates Certification Center in Raleigh in 2003. I began with a weekend level 1 mat training course and left knowing this was what I wanted to do. Soon, I followed up with certification on the equipment as well, eventually opening a studio of my own as well as working at gyms and studios in the Lake Norman area. Throughout the years, I have taught mat, group classes, private, and semi-private classes. Teaching intro classes, to help people get off to a good start, is a favorite of mine. In 2007, interested in expanding my knowledge of the body, I started massage school and became a licensed massage therapist. I enjoy taking classes and attending workshops to expand my knowledge of and ability to work with the body. I love what I do. There is no better feeling than to help people feel better both physically and mentally. In my free time, I enjoy everything outdoors… biking, hiking, kayaking, photography, and traveling.

I’m a fitness-loving, gardening obsessed, free spirit with a drive to live a healthier life. Fueled by an abundant fascination of the human body at a young age and a desire to learn more, I decided to become certified as a Massage Therapist in 2002. Being a therapist has allowed me the opportunity to study and work with clients in relieving their pain, reducing their stress, and healing their bodies. My passion with studying the body soon led to a desire to help others further, but to do so would mean finding a way to prevent and reduce the chance of injuries. I was first introduced to Pilates over 15 years ago during a physical therapy session due to a back injury. The therapist recommended that strengthening my core would really benefit me and that I should look into practicing Pilates. Pilates? What’s that? Pilates was just starting to become popular in my area, which meant finding a class and affording it was next to impossible. To my delight, a couple of years later (and more back pain than ever), a Pilates studio opened down the street. I jumped on the chance to train on the Reformer and could not believe how quickly relief came and how the pain stayed away. I was truly in love, which immediately turned into an obsession to learn all I could. Finally after five years of training, I decided to take the plunge and become an instructor. In 2010, I became a certified Pilates instructor and since have added Barre and Pound to my repertoire. I pride myself on teaching clients proper control and body mechanics in a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Pilates is an amazing regimen for strengthening and caring for our bodies. “Sports are wonderful for the constitution generally, but they are of little value for correcting what’s wrong with you- and there’s something wrong with almost everyone. ‘Corrective Exercise’ is the only way to build a beautiful, strong, youthful body” ~Joseph Pilates
